TRIGUN MAXIMUM VOLUME 3 Chapter 1
Debris is flying through the air.
Vash knows what's going on...
Wolfwood falls...
THE GROUND HAS DISAPPEARED! Wolfwood is falling down a shaft to where Grey is...
Wolfwood thinks over the fight with Raidei, hitting Vash, forcing Vash to point a gun at Wolfwood's head, and the recent events on the SEEDS ship.
Wolfwood goes kind of Wolverine on us for a second there...
Suddenly GREY'S HAND COMES RACING TOWARD WOLFWOOD!
He dodges and shoots Grey in the arm
Wolfwood is knocked around some.
As Wolfwood is falling, he fires at Grey.
Grey's hand looks partially severed.
Wolfwood is hanging onto a railing (the Cross Punisher fell over the edge and he is hanging on by the strap)
Wolfwood waits to see if Grey is dead.
Scene Transition: Back to Leonov and Vash
Leonov is using the floating silver balls to control the puppet monstrocity.
A sharp, dangerous looking barb comes at Vash.
Vash is surrounded by the pointy barbs!!! 27 of them!!!
With his revolver and his machine gun, vash starts shooting.
Doll parts are falling everywhere.
A barb lands RIGHT in front of him (like an inch from his nose).
He looks at Leonov, enduring the current battle.
Suddenly, Leonov jumps off the branch he was standing on and flies using bat-like wings!
The branch falls down...
Leonov looks at Vash, who has his gun raised.
Leonov compares Vash and Knives.
Leonov wipes blood away from his cheek, where a bullet grazed him.
Leonov KNOWS Vash can easily kill him.
and...this is apparently an exciting reason to keep fighting! 0_o
Scene transition to Wolfwood.
He's smoking a cigarette on the bridge he was hanging from earlier.
He crushes his cigarette with his shoe as he prepares for Grey's attack.
Wolfwood smiles.
Grey advances!
Vash aims.
Leonov applies pressure!
Transition: The gondola station on the cliff.
Light shines inside the house from the window.
A desk with letters, schedules, a candle...
The station seems to be making noise...
Milly looks unsure.
Milly tries to stow the three thomases she, Meryl, and Jessica used to travel here. (One is thrashing around like an ankylosaur)
Jessica and Milly are preoccupied with the thomases as Meryl tells them to hurry.
Chapter 2
Establishing shot: a large hall with fabric draped from the ceiling.
The babysitter holds Legato as someone reports a message.
Legato allows Grey to deal with Wolfwood's treachery.
Back on the SEEDS ship, Grey goes BONKERS...
AND PREPARES TO ATTACK WOLFWOOD AGAIN!
Grey screams and fires a cannon ball/grenade at wolfwood from his fist-gun-thing.
The cannon ball explodes on impact, but only takes out the central infrastructure behind Wolfwood, leaving our Cynical Hero relatively unscathed, much to Grey's chagrin.
Wolfwood means business...
AND OPENS FIRE!
HITTING GREY ALL OVER THE PLACE!!! Grey blocks the bullets with his fist-gun-things.
Grey screams again!
Grey sustains heavy wounds, and as
Wolfwood is stuck on the bridge, things are exploding everywhere.
Wolfwood keeps firing.
Grey lowers his arms,
and Wolfwood takes advantage of the opening by SHOOTING HIM IN THE HEAD...SEVERAL TIMES!!
Grey is gushing blood from several wounds.
Wolfwood keeps firing.
Grey falls! But as he falls, he attacks!
He launches his fist-gun-thing at Wolfwood, which lands right udnerneath him!
At the same time, he grabs a hold of the platform and, to Wolfwood's surprise and dismay,
SWINGS HIMSELF BACK ONTO THE PLATFORM.
Grey lands solidly on the platform.
Wolfwood keeps firing...
and firing...
(Wolfwood APPEARS to be moving backwards the central infrastructure.)
Grey appears to move through a door or past a wall.
Wolfwood keeps firing.
Keeps hitting him in the face...
Grey closes in...
and FIRES HIS OTHER FIST-GUN-THING RIGHT INTO WOLFWOOD, FRACTURING pretty much...ALL HIS RIBS!!!
No time for recuperation...something in the fist-gun clicks...
AND WOLFWOO DODGES OUT OF THE WAY JUST AS A CANNON BALL EXPLODES OUT OF THE FIST-GUN!
WOLFWOOD AND HIS CROSS GO FLYING!!!
Wolfwood is thrown into a separate room.
He gets up.
Grey is still advancing.
Grey is coming.
Wolfwood realizes his gun is across the room!!
Grey aims with his fist-gun
A shot of Grey from behind his left sholder looking over his right... His arm is raised.
Wolfwood rolls...
AND AS GREY AIMS, WOLFWOOD SHOOTS HIS PISTOL!!
Grey fires a cannon ball, but Wolfwood's bullet has penetrated the cannon ball!
Grey takes notice...
AS HE BECOMES ENGULFED IN AN EXPLOSION!!!
Grey's arm is hanging by a thread, but he is still standing.
Wolfwood looks like hell.
Grey focuses...and LUNGES TOWARDS WOLFWOOD!!
Wolfwood's either feigning or actually feeling resignation.
BUT THEN ACTION/REALIZATION!
and he SLAMS DOWN ON THE THE DOOR CONTROLS!
AND JUST AS GERY'S ALMOST GOT WOLFWOOD, A HEAVY DOOR COMES CRASHING DOWN FROM ABOVE!!
Grey's arm is caught UNDERNEATH THE DOOR...
and is SEVERED!
Wolfwood gloats...
but he doesn't notice as Grey's thumb begins to move...
Chapter 3
The door begins to open...
Wolfwood looks in shock...
and sees that Grey's severed arm has managed to claw its way across the floor using its broken fingers...
and activates the door control.
Wolfwood picks up his weapon as Grey waits patiently outside.
Wolfwood first shoots at the hand,
then at Grey's chest.
He picks up the Cross Punisher and hoists it onto his shoulder.
He lifts the weapon.
Grey is in his sights...
AND HE LAUNCHES A TORPEDO AT GREY'S CHEST!
Scene change: Vash might be hearing the explosions.
He is still in the grassy area.
He appears to be alone...
SUDDENLY, A PUPPET WITH A GUN APPEARS!
The puppet delivers a message for Leonov.
Vash shoots it down.
Deeper inside the ship...
Wolfwood is taking a breather after his last advance...
but despite the fact that Grey is currently disemboweled from the previous attack,
he is still moving FORWARD!!
His rib cage is completely open and he's dragging his intestines along the floor...
A shot of Grey looking like utter hell.
Wolfwood's like OMG.
Grey swings what appears to be an arm at Wolfwood.
Wolfwood fires again!
STRAIGHT INTO GREY'S EXPOSED BODY CAVITY!
Wolfwood sees for the first time several pairs of eyes looking out from Grey's body cavity.
Wolfwood grits his teeth
AND SHOVES HIS WEAPON INTO GREY'S TORSO!
Blood is raining down on him as he continues to fire...
Several eyes are looking down at Wolfwood...
GREY COLLAPSES AS WOLFWOOD CONTINUES TO FIRE!
Scene change: an apartment complex-looking living area.
Vash walks through the gate,
up some stairs,
to a door,
opens the door and enters a hallway.
There is a crack of light coming from one of the rooms.
Vash walks up to it, both weapons ready.
He stands in front of the door,
his foot angled upward...
and KICKS THE DOOR IN WITH HIS FOOT,
He slides into the room on his heel in a defensive pose with both guns ready...
And he stops...
It's just a happy family...
Vash relaxes, but only for a moment because this happy family
HAS HAPPY GUNS! (even the baby...this has to be one of my favorite drawings in the entire series...)
AND THEY OPEN FIRE!
Leonov taunts Vash through Utica.
Doll parts are strewn across the table.
Vash has fallen back against the wall, surrounded by bullet holes.
He's been grazed on the cheek.
SUDDENLY A GIANT PUPPET CHASES SEVERAL PEOPLE INTO THE ROOM!
Vash fires on the puppet,
Two girls run BACK toward Vash and the open door.
They, along with several other people, run past Vash...
but as they pass, it is revealed that they are PUPPETS! WITH GUNS!
Which Vash realizes as their aiming at his BACK!
IN A SPLIT SECOND, HE BENDS OVER BACKWARDS TO AVOID BEING SHOT!!
AND HITS THE GROUND FIRING!
Puppet parts fall to the ground.
He pauses a moment...
and hears someone...
Vash is all OH NOES! as he sits up...
TO FIND A REAL GIRL AMONG THE PUPPET PARTS! SHE'S SHOT IN THE SHOULDER!!!
(It's good to know that when taking out puppets, Vash only shoots non-vital spots...)
Seeing that she's injured and bleeding real blood, he runs over to her!
He kneels down and checks her injuries...
Leonov continues to taunt him, laughing at the fact that Vash can't tell the puppets from real people, thus dramatically reducing his self-defense options...
Vash grits his teeth...
And threatens some guy named Emilio...
Chapter 4
Establishing shot: somewhere deep within the SEEDS ship...
Holding a gun, running,
Brad takes cover next to a column...
He sees miscellaneous doll parts flying through the ventilation system...
...lots of them...
Vash carries the girl in his arms as he advances...
Leonov is all WTF is Emilio?
He has forgotten...
The name sounds familiar...
Vash starts saying names...
"...Isabel."
LEONOV STARTS FLIPPING OUT!
LEONOV COLLAPSES!
He employs several silver balls in a maniacal fervor...
Brad watches as tons of puppets start flying past him!
He looks to see where they're coming from...
Back at the apartments, Vash watches as a door opens to reveal several armed men...
And with them...IS DOC...
WHO LEADS THE CHARGE against Vash!!!
Vash dodges as the men open fire!
They shoot!
He runs!
He looks down at the advancing throng...
The girl seems to be losing consciousness...
Leonov is in a rage as he directs his puppets...
Vash enters a building...
and kicks a door in...
But the room's not safe! Through the window, Vash can see people outside!
They BURST IN THROUGH THE GLASS!
AND AIM THEIR WEAPONS!
Vash covers the girl...
as he DIVES BACK OUT OF THE ROOM!
He pulls out his MACHINE GUN!
and SHOOTS THE CRAP OUT OF THE PUPPETS!
They fall apart and hit the floor...
And Vash sees...
Impossibly thin strings attached to the doll parts...the mechanism through which Leonov controls his puppets...
As Vash holds the girl, he now knows what to do...
The puppets are looking everywhere for Vash.
Leonov is currently employing no fewer than 15 puppets in his search.
Leonov finally spots him!
He's standing high up...
on a tower...
And he's holding an explosive...
Leonov chides him as several puppets run toward the base of the tower.
Vash THROWS the explosive up in the air...
AND SHOOTS IT! CAUSING A HUGE EXPLOSION!!
The ship reacts by turning on the fire sprinklers en masse.
The water drops fall down...
Onto the apartment complex...
WATER FALLS EVERYWHERE!
The water droplets on the shiny balls seems to make them "short out,"
the puppets begin to fall apart...
and along the strings...
water is gathering...
Vash comes down and looks SUPER COOL!
And tells Leonov/Emilio to quit fighting...
Leonov is gritting his teeth so hard they begin to crack!
Vash looks down to see...
LEONOV'S HANDS COMPLETELY CONSTRICTED BY STRINGS!
Leonov collapses in front of Vash.
Leonov expects Vash to kill him (of course...these bad guys never learn...)
Vash is like, "Umm...no..."
"But I will further antagonize you by reminding you of your forgotten past!"
Leonov STARTS FREAKING OUT AGAIN!
He gets up and runs away.
Vash tries to go after him, but his leg buckles beneath him...
He has sustained a leg injury...
MEANWHILE...
Brad has found Leonov's base of operations.
There is a huge pile of puppet boxes...
but blood is seeping out of them...
and running down a nearby drain...
Brad climbs to the top and finds...
an incredibly lifelike doll...is she real?
Chapter 5
Brad is still looking at the doll/girl, trying to figure out what it is...
when suddenly, puppets start crawling out of their boxes...
Brad looks down
and starts taking out the puppets...
DIE PUPPETS DIE!
Cut to Wolfwood.
He's sitting on the ground, looking completely DONE.
Grey is fifteen different kinds of messed up.
Wolfwood thinks about the kids at the orphanage...
and looks up...
And out of Grey's body emerges these little guys...
Wolfwood must be out of ammo because he gets up and starts WAILING on the little bastards with his fists.
He pins one down and starts choking him.
Wolfwood thinks of the kids at the orphanage...
but continues to choke the little bastard.
From behind wolfwood, some type of sharp, killy machinery emerges from Grey's chest...
In the bottom left hand corner, you can see another little guy STILL INSIDE GREY, CONTROLLING THE MACHINERY!!
Back to Brad.
He's shooting more puppets.
The girl/doll in the box...
opens her eyes...
Leonov screams at Brad to leave the girl/doll alone (Presumably a copy of Isabel? I don't know...)
Leonov has revealed his weakness to Brad...
A puppet underneath brad SHOVES HIM OFF BALANCE!
More puppets come out, but as tey do...
They knock the girl/doll's box over,
sending it falling down down down to the floor...
Leonov can only look on in horror.
Brad gets up off the floor.
Suddenly he looks inside one of the bloody boxes and sees...
...body parts? (I think this is how Leonov took over the ship: instead of launching this attack right away, he has been killing people and replacing them with puppets since Doc and Brad got back to the ship. That way, the REAL HUMANS on board have NO IDEA what is going on...or not...)
Brad pukes...
Leonov goes to the girl/doll...
Brad tries to recover...
The panel angle suggests that he climbs up higher.
Leonov realizes he has no clue where Brad is.
He looks up...
THE HATCH AT THE BOTTOM OF THE ROOM BEGINS TO DISENGAGE!
Leonov watches as several bits of machinery release.
A shot from outside reveals that THE ENTIRE BOTTOM HALF OF THE SHIP IS FALLING INTO THE OCEAN OF SAND!
An interior shot of the floor falling away.
There is an explosion!
Brad looks down.
Leonov is suspended in the air, holding on to the case with the girl/doll inside...
He looks up to see that Vash is the one holding him up.
Leonov is incredulous.
The tension from the strings is cutting off Leonov's fingers.
With each missing finger, that means more tension on the others, and suddenly he loses hold of the box.
As the girl/doll falls down, Leonov reaches out with his severed fingers.
Leonov wants to follow the box!
Vash is still holding on.
Suddenly, a tiny puppet with a sharp instrument of pain hops up onto Vash.
With a quick stabby motion, the puppet cuts into Vash's wrist...
Vash lets go...
And Leonov falls to his demise...
A sudden flashback of a younger Vash walking with a boy who is carrying a puppet... (which suggests to me that the string that is tied to the end of Vash's gun is the same as the string Leonov uses to control his puppets...but that might just be coincidental...)
BACK TO WOLFWOOD!
As he is strangling the little guy, Wolfwood's eyes roll into the back of his head...
the killy machinery moves above him...
AND IS RIGHT ON TOP OF HIM!
POISED TO KILL!
BUT OUR PUNCTUAL HEROINES ARRIVE TO RESCUE WOLFWOOD JUST IN THE NICK OF TIME!
Crash.
Wolfwood's all WTF.
Milly greets Wolfwood as Meryl tends to her injuries. They appear to have jumped down from a ledge, since Jessica is higher up asking about what the hell just happened...
Chapter 6
Brad finds Vash,
who is unconscious.
Vash's left arm is extended...
And at the same time, Knives left arm is extended as he sits behind a fairly bizarre organ.
Knives' Super Secret Hideout.
There is a bright light...
A figure walks along a corridor lined with columns...
Midvalley, Hopperd, Zazie, and Legato take notice.
A whole is cut out of the ceiling...
Knives hand is reaching up...
A closer shot reveals the KNIVES and FEATHERS that are coming out of his hand...
Knives looks up through his mask...
Someone is looking at some sort of engineering schematics or computer program.
Flashback: in the desert.
A bundle of rags.
Correction: Vash in a bundle of rags.
People find him.
And they take him back with them...
Vash wakes up startled!
He's in...a bed?
He's alive, with machinery that constantly beeps...
With a patient lying next to him...
He looks at the ceiling, the computer,
then he looks over and sees...WOLFWOOD!
He hears someone else coming in...
Meryl, Milly, and Jessica walk in.
Meryl appears to be typing up a report...
Vash sits up and they stare.
He sees the girls...
and looks a little freaked out...
And then Jessica launches herself at Vash...
Meryl smiles, Vash says hi.
Vash smiles,
Meryl smiles,
and then CLOBBERS him with a 2x4.
People have been waiting outside for Vash to wake up.
Other people begin to come into the room.
Vash seems to be politely prying Jessica off him, since when we cut back to him, he's by himself.
Vash tries to blame himself for everything,
but Luida won't let him...
Conversation conversation.
More conversation...
LATER THAT NIGHT...
Wolfwood regains consciousness.
Vash scares the crap out of him.
He sits up...
BUT HE'S IN PAIN! HAHA! (For a guy who writes a comic book which is about not killing, he sure has a lot of humor based on violence...)
Vash thanks Wolfwood.
Since their fight over Raidei, Wolfwood has been beating himself up about killing people, so naturally he's a little reluctant to accept thanks from Vash for doing what Vash has chastized him for.
But Vash is still thankful.
Vash wouldn't have been able to save anyone without Wolfwood's help.
I think Wolfwood is pissed here because he has been doubting his actions for days, but the very person who forced him to question his actions is now implicitly THANKING him for KILLING!
A little later...
Jessica spills a bowl of soup on Wolfwood's bed.
She flips.
He's like, CHILL!
Wolfwod finds a locket and picks it up...
It's a picture of Jessica, who was a very small girl, with Vash, who looks exactly the same as he does now.
Chapter 7
Deep within the ship, a man arrives...
He intends to beat the crap out of the two remaining little guys who were inside Grey.
He opens the cell...AND THE LITTLE GUYS ESCAPE!
As Vash is cleaning up, a puppet hand gives him half a coin...
He takes it and looks at it...
Milly and Meryl arrive, and Vash smiles.
Break Time!
Luida and Wolfwood conversation.
More Luida and Wolfwood conversation (Note how Wolfwood carries his IV stand around like the Cross Punisher...hehehe)
Luida Flashback of Vash.
Present: the sleeping chamber in the ship.
Meryl and Milly look around and Vash contemplates...
It's official! Vash is still growing! (He was only a teenager seventy years ago?!?!)
As Vash thinks about Rem,
Meryl thinks about Vash.
Wolfwood and Luida converse...
Wolfwood and Luida talk, then ALARM!
Two guys are dead.
Wolfwood's all, oh crap.
Back to the sleep chamber.
Milly looks over...
Milly and Vash sense something wrong...
Meryl seems to be zoned out...
Vash looks around the place...
THE BAD GUYS GO FOR THE GIRLS!
VASH SHOUTS!!
QUICK BLUR OF MOTION!
Vash tosses his jacket at the baddies as he leaps to push the girls out of the way...
The baddies land.
They start monologuing...
Vash leaps towards them...
AND THROWS HIS FAKE ARM IN FRONT OF THE GUN FIRE!!!
The little guys keep talking...
but a shoe lands on one of their heads...
Wolfwood is standing on him.
Vash is smiling, but doesn't look happy...
Wolfwood notices Vash's arm has been shot off again...
Vash orders two guys to check different areas for injured people...
Wolfwood/Luida conversation...
Vash seems to be smiling for real...
Wolfwood makes a really goofy face...
