chap 1
back on the ship, rem freaks, punches some numbers into a keypad.
the sleep pods continue to open
she tells vash and knives over their communicator screens not to come out under any circumstances
vash and knives look scared
the other crew members slowly awaken
the crew wakes up and fixes the problem
knives snaps his communicator shut, breaths a sigh of relief
the crew is trying to figure out what went wrong
they ask rem if anything has happened while they were asleep
she says no
dr conrad doesn't seem to believe her
she watches the rest of the crew as they enter their sleep pods
and then...goes to find knives.
as she's admonishing knives, she turns to see...conrad is right behind her
conrad approaches the boys rapidly. they're scared, but he just looks at them, fascinated
conrad talks to rem in the rec room as the boys stand a good distance away
he asks what she plans to do with them
she says she wants to take them with her into cold sleep when her term is up
conrad comes to talk to the boys
they're apprehensive
he asks if they love rem
they both sincerely say yes
conrad smiles in acceptance
knives starts crying
vash thanks conrad
rem accompanies conrad back to the sleeping chambers. he asks rem to let him see them again once they land
knives is awfully optimistic here. (painfully optimistic)
he's really happy about meeting all the people. even vash smiles a little
but suddenly, a little girl appears
they wonder if it's the girl from cold-sleep, but it's not.
they run after her through the ship
they come to a part of the ship they've never seen before
they see a fresh flower and go to the console
they get through the encryption on the file
they see...THE REPORT OF TESSLA
they read the report, shocked to know there was a child like them before
suddenly, a motor starts and tubes rise out of the machinery
they hold the remains of tessla
chapter 2
rem bangs on the door.
vash looks horrible
she begs for forgiveness outside the door
knives is completely unconscious
vash thinks back over the people he's met, the girl in the cold sleep chamber, tessla
he thinks of knives words about their hearts and human hearts being the same
but he knows he's not human...
he thinks of all those humans in cold-sleep...all those humans who will be after him...
he tries to strangle himself
rem beats on the door
no answer
rem gets a blow-torch and cuts her way into the room
she finds vash unconscious
she sees that they've read the report
she tries to get vash to eat, but he throws his food on the ground
he's convinced rem was going to use them to finish the experimentation they couldn't finish with tessla
rem tries to explain what happened
vash asks her to kill him
vash won't eat
he's huddled in his blanket
she keeps trying to feed him, he keeps refusing food
she tries another tactic...she gets an apple
he watches her
she peels the apple
he watches her
she sets down the knife
he grabs it and tries to stab himself
she catches the blade
he struggles, cutting her hand
she asks him if he's going to throw away everything so easily
he looks at the blood on her hand
he looks desperate
he pulls the knife out of her hand and lunges for her
she folds in two on top of him
he looks happy...until...he sees what he's done...
the blood on his hands...his hands go out of focus...
rem on the floor...the stab wound in her belly, her sliced up hand...
he starts to scream...
later - medical machines are beeping
vash has a beverage pack...he looks much healthier
rem is in a sleep pod-thingie...
she wakes up, looks over, sees vash and smiles...
but she's still in pain
she explains the whole blank ticket thing
knives wakes up.
he doesn't remember anything
chap 3
rem told the boys everything. knives listened to everything
vash thought it would be better if knives knew the truth
rem tries to comfort knives, but he pushes her away
knives leaves the room.
vash says his name, but knives completely ignores him
vash pauses...rem looks on
vash tries to stop knives...he's going straight for the...cold sleep chamber...
vash stops at the door, but knives keeps walking in
knives looks on from the darkness and chides vash for being afraid
vash comes in, sweat on his face
he finds knives, he says knives is right and they'll keep moving forward
knives smiles and tells vash everything is going to be alright
life seems to return to normal
vash and knives make dinner
they play chess
they laugh, they learn
they hang out in the cold-sleep chamber
the three of them are sleeping on a pallet
knives wakes up and walks out of the room
he sits at a console and types in data
he peels off the nail on his thumb and paints his face with blood
he stands triumphant as seeds ships plummet into the planet below
vash confronts knives...he says knives lied and that he was afraid, too
knives kicks vash in the face and tells him to get a hold of himself
knives tells vash he has to learn to look at the big picture
cut to present, knives looks at a wall full of plant bulbs
he kneels down, repenting for all the plants which were killed in the great all
he touches the bulb...
the plant angel comes down to him
tentacles come out of her mouth towards him
there's a great beam of energy
everyone stops what they're doing
elandira runs to where knives is
the bulb is cracked and he's absorbing the plant angel
he lifts his arm
elandira looks on as she sees he has...
two gates now...
legato reacts
a great beam of power erupts out of knives high into the sky
chap 4
wolfwood pops vash in the face, tells vash he looks like he belongs at a funeral
they hear gunshots
a guy has a noose around his neck, a bigger guy is keeping him from being hung
people aim their guns at the big guy
vash shoots the noose, the little guy falls onto the ground
vash unties the guy on the ground as people realize he's THE STAMPEDE
somebody tells them they can leave, but they can't ever come back
cut to a bar in the middle of nowhere
vash looks like he's trying to have fun
vash starts drinking
they listen to the radio as wolfwood talks to the bartender
the short guy tells vash everyone has regret, but that even vash will be forgotten one day
the radio goes out
vash stumbles out of the bar, his hand on the back of his neck
wolfwood follows
vash asks wolfwood if he really is his guide to knives
wolfwood: hell yeah
a little wing is growing out of the back of vash's neck (maybe the place wolfwood was aiming that one time...)
vash looks on as part of a satellite falls into the sand
other chunks fall to the planet
all the satellites all over the planet are going dead
knives sits pirched on some structure, 4 gates visible in his body
he aims at the sky...and a burst of energy erupts from his arm
elandira laments the situation
vash says goodbye
chap 5
vash and wolfwood approach knives' headquarters
they just walk in the front door
wolfwood remarks on knives' pressure
wolfwood looks over to vash and sees vash is reacting to knives power as well
wolfwood looks down...then...
crosses on chains come out of nowhere and rip through his body
the chains go taut and his body is completely bisected
a shot shows that this was all in his head
he gasps, eyes wide
vash asks him if he is alright, wolfwood lies
wolfwood tries to figure out who has such strong killing intent towards him
elandira pops out of the darkness
she leads them to a staircase
vash tells wolfwood he'll be ok on his own
he tells wolfwood to be careful
wolfwood makes a funny face
vash makes his way up the stairs
wolfwood calls out to him, but he's blocked by elandira
she says this is the way knives wants it to be
wolfwood ask elandira if the killing intent from before was from her, but she doesn't have a clue
elandira asks wolfwood candidly which side he's on
wolfwood tells her if he wanted it, she'd already be dead
wolfwood suddenly strips his cross punisher
he blocks a giant cross on a chain
out of nowhere, the guy in the wheelchair of death and the skull guy pop out. they both have their weapons trained on wolfwood
wolfwood is aiming at the wheelchair guy, elandira is aiming at skull guy
i think the wheelchair guy basically says wolfwood should have killed him when he had the chance
elandira tells them to knock it off
wolfwood recognizes skull guy...LIVIO!
he calls the wheelchair guy a bastard
livio and wheelchair guy recede into the darkness
elandira tells wolfwood knives isn't the same
the two of them contemplate the impending doom they're liable to witness shortly
vash approaches knives
vash looks at knives as he sleeps, his body is relaxed, arms, faces, and wings protrude from the cloth he's surrounded in
vash continues to react
knives suddenly wakes up
vash's sunglasses crack from the pressure
vash transforms a little more, the glasses cut vash as they're blown off his face
knives approaches from the darkness
chap 6
legato is at full attention
knives makes his way towards vash
knives makes fun of vash
vash readies to confront knives, but knives says he won't let vash use his power
knives tells vash the black in his hair means he's decaying
vash looks surprised
knives reaches towards vash, a swirl of energy surrounds vash
vash leaps out just in time
the energy SNAPS SHUT!
knives screams in anguish
vash draws both his guns, shooting both simultaneously at knives
knives blocks with his...er...knives...
he sucks in the bullets.
his knives turn into guns
he aims at vash...
KAPOW!
elandira and wolfwood watch as legato approaches. he's rigged some sort of aparatus that allows him to move in his coffin
legato's freaking out
back to vash and knives
vash is on the ground, surrounded by bullet holes
knives launches into a monologue
he's shocked when vash gets up
vash refuses to see it knives' way
angular, protective structures (feather things?) surround vash, he looks on steadily
the tubes from his jacket unhook, he hunkers down
he fires at knives with his machine gun
knives looks on (silly vash...) until he realizes that...
vash's coat is reloading his revolver
vash hits knives in a sweet spot...one of the angels connected to knives screams
knives approaches vash
legato freaks out
he tries to go towards knives
elandira tries to stop him, but one look at legato's eyes and she steps out of the way
legato (telekenetically?) hobbles up the stairs
vash smiles sadly at knives, tells knives he's not going to get his way
vash's arm begins to transform
knives FREAKS OUT
he stabs vash's angel arm and knocks vash backwards
vash's arm has gone more-or-less back to normal
knives says that since vash doesn't listen, he's going to have to fuse with vash just like he did the other plants
he begins, but legato shows up just in time to stop knives
knives pants heavily, he rips his knifearm out of vash, who screams in pain
knives falls to his knees...he was just a moment away from being overcome by the superior strength of vash's power
vash is incapacitated thanks to legato
knives asks if legato can keep vash restrained at all times
legato eagerly accepts the task
elandira launches the "ark"
a chunk of the ship breaks away...
